How to read a candle.
A candle is not decoration. It is a ritual. A few rules · and the experience becomes what it is meant to be.
- 01
The first burn
On first lighting, let the wax melt across the entire surface (about 2-3 hours). This avoids tunnelling · and the candle will burn evenly down to the last gram.
- 02
Trim the wick
Before each subsequent lighting, trim the wick to about 5 mm. Shorter wicks mean cleaner flames, less soot, and a more even scent profile.
- 03
Burn time
Maximum 3-4 hours per session. Afterwards the candle should rest at least 2 hours. The glass stays cool and the scent stays consistent.
- 04
Extinguish
Extinguish with a lid or snuffer · never blow. This avoids soot plumes and keeps the wax clean.
- 05
Safety
Never leave unattended. Keep away from curtains and flammable materials. Out of reach of children and pets.
Complies with EN 15494 (safety labelling for candles) and CLP regulations.
